We at Studio 23 teach under the Pilates Institute Method. Beginners and Intermediate to Advance Matwork classes are taught in our studio. We also use props such as Pilates bands, stability balls, Pilates rings and foam rollers. All equipment is supplied by the studio. Classes normally last around 55 minutes and class size is limited to 10 people max.
Anybody can do Pilates! It is not just for athletes, the exercises are designed to put a minimum strain on the body and we at Studio 23 have beginners, intermediate and advanced classes to facilitate all levels.
One of the reasons for low back pain is due to weak abdominal (core muscles). This results in the back muscles working overtime and harder than they should. Pilates aims to bring the abdominals and back muscles into balance alleviating and preventing back pain. Also when the core muscles are balanced and strong, the rest of the body can move more freely because it doesn’t have to compensate for weak abdominals.
Pilates does not only work on the muscular system of the body, but has a more of a holistic effect on the body.
